Default Cayman

We have all been deeply saddened and shocked by the effect of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. This seems to have set off other activity in the region. I have just picked this information up from the TCI Journal

Earthquake measuring 5.8 strikes 65 km from Cayman Islands

At 9:23am local time, on January 19 2010, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded near the coast of the Cayman Islands. The location of the epicenter was 40 miles ESE of George Town, Cayman Islands, 195 mile WNW of Montego Bay, Jamaica, 215 miles south of Cienfuegos, Cuba and 465 Miles South of Miami, Florida.

The TCI Journal has further information and maps.

I have not heard that this caused any actual damage, and know that a tsunami warning was not issued for the Turks and Caicos Islands.
